It’s a kind of skin disease which causes the skin to cause severe itching . under severe conditions Folliculitis might even lead to permanent loss of hair in the head. Folliculitis is characterized by small, white-headed pimples around one or more hair follicles. The signs and symptoms of folliculitis vary depending on the type of infection . they are different types of folliculitis that might infect a human being.

 

Different forms of Folliculitis have been Divided into Two Broad Categories Namely
1.Superficial Folliculitis
2.Deep Seated Folliculitis


1.Superficial Folliculitis: In this form of the disorder, small pimples develop around one or more hair follicles. The main distinguishing factor between a follicular pimple from acne is that with a follicular pimple you often can see the hair shaft at the center of the lesion. These kind of pimples normally contain pus (pustules), and is surrounded by an area that's red and inflamed. The infection may itch or be somewhat tender, but normally it isn't painful.

 

Some of the Different Types of Superficial Folliculitis include
1. Pseudomonas folliculitis
2. Barbers itch
3. Tinea barbae
4. Pseudofolliculitis barbae
5. Pityrosporum folliculitis
6. Herpetic folliculitis

2.Deep Seated Folliculitis: This kind of folliculitis normally affects the entire hair follicle, can cause more serious signs and symptoms, which include large, painful, pus-filled pimples that may leave scars once they are healed.

 

Some of the Different Types of Deep Seated Folliculitis include
1. Gram negative folliculitis
2. Boils and carbuncles
3. Eosinophillic folliculitis

Treatment: Most of the different types of folliculitis does not need any medications and they heal themselves .however sometimes under rare conditions they might become serious and would need prescribed medications .most of the time the doctors may prescribe oral or tropical medication.

Prevention:

 

Some of the common steps that can be taken in order to prevent the occurrence of Folliculitis include

1. Avoid constricting clothing: Prevent wearing tight clothes  especially jeans and athletic wear. They may look stylish and fashionable but they are one of the main causes of Folliculitis.

2. Shave with care: Try using electric razor or a new blade every time you shave. Be especially careful to keep the shaved area clean and to avoid cuts and nicks.

3. Maintain hot tubs: If you use hot tub, clean it regularly.
